introduction to ashtanga yoga workshop

Since last spring I've been assisting Brigid with her Ashtanga Mysore-style classes in Clifton and Southville. It's been a wonderful opportunity to help students though hands-on adjustment and individual teaching. We've enjoyed exchanging knowledge and experience gathered from our individual yoga journeys, and as an outcome of this we've created a workshop specifically to introduce beginners to the practice of Ashtanga yoga.

Come and learn the fundamental principles of Ashtanga Yoga. A dynamic style of yoga that unites breath, movement and awareness though a set series of poses to create a flowing and energetic practice – specifically for purifying the body and known as Yoga Chikitsa.
This workshop is suitable for beginners and will be perfect preparation for anyone looking to join a regular Mysore-style class or develop their own self practice. In this three-hour workshop we’ll cover:
– Cultivating the breath (pranayama)
– Understanding and practicing the physical postures (asana)
– Working with bandhas (energy locks)
– Learning to Vinyasa (link or synchronise postures with breath)
During the course of the morning we’ll combine teaching and practice with time for discussion and questions. If you’re interested in beginning a dynamic yoga practice then this workshop is for you.
About the teacher: Brigid is an experienced teacher and student of John and Lucy Scott. Welcoming students of all levels, she is particularly interested in introducing beginners to the benefits of a regular practice. Brigid will be assisted by Sam Lacey, an intuitive massage therapist who’s committed to supporting students with careful adjustments that are always relevant to their level of experience.
TIME/DATE: Sunday 22nd March 10am until 1pm
LOCATION: Tobacco Factory Dance Studio, Southville
COST: £25
For more details or to book please call Brigid on 07834 534951 or visit www.ashtangayogabristol.co.uk <http://www.ashtangayogabristol.co.uk>
